Overview
The Kathmandu valley holds the densest concentration of World Heritage on earth, and this journey gives each masterpiece the time and expertise it deserves.
On the Luxury level your base is Dwarika’s Hotel — itself a rescue mission of carved windows and courtyard shrines; on the Comfort level it is Hotel Barahi in Kathmandu. Your days are shaped by our scholar guides around ritual hours: Boudhanath at dawn, Pashupatinath’s evening aarti, Bhaktapur as the light turns gold.
Between the great sites come the human ones: a thangka painter’s studio, the bronze foundries of Patan, lunch in a Newari nobleman’s house.
Highlights
- Dawn ritual at Boudhanath stupa before the crowds
- Private blessing ceremony with a Hindu priest
- Patan’s master bronze-casters at work
- Bhaktapur’s medieval squares at golden hour
- Four nights at Dwarika’s, the valley’s living museum, on the Luxury level

Day by day
Private arrival transfer to your hotel (Dwarika’s on the Luxury level). As the day cools, climb the eastern stairway of Swayambhunath, the Monkey Temple, for your first sweep of the valley beneath its painted eyes.
Join the kora circuit at Boudhanath as butter lamps are lit, breakfast in a rooftop café facing the dome, then an afternoon at Pashupatinath, Nepal’s holiest Shiva temple, closing with the riverside aarti ceremony.
A full day in Patan — the Golden Temple, the palace museum, known for its bronze and stone sculpture, and private visits to bronze-casting and thangka workshops where the valley’s crafts live on.
Morning among Bhaktapur’s car-free squares — pottery courtyards, the Peacock Window, curd tasted from clay bowls — then a drive to the valley rim at Nagarkot for a Himalayan sunset.
The old royal heart of Kathmandu and a farewell audience with the Kumari’s courtyard, before your private transfer to the airport.

Questions, answered
Is five days enough for the valley?
It covers the great sites without haste. Guests who add a sixth day usually spend it in the hill monasteries of Pharping or shopping the valley’s ateliers with our guide.
How do you handle crowds at the major sites?
By timing. We visit Boudhanath at dawn, Bhaktapur late in the day and museums at opening — you will repeatedly find yourself nearly alone in famous places.
Can dietary requirements be met?
Effortlessly — Kathmandu has good vegetarian and vegan food, with traditions centuries old. Every restaurant on the journey is briefed ahead.
