Before you go

Good to know

How do I get to Mustang?

Most guests fly Kathmandu to Pokhara, then take a 20-minute mountain flight to Jomsom. Jomsom flights run only in the morning and are often delayed or cancelled by wind or cloud, so we always keep a spare night in the plan. The alternative is a drive of about 7 to 9 hours from Pokhara.

How high is it?

Jomsom is at about 2,700 m and the villages visited go up to about 3,500 m. Most healthy travellers manage well, with a slow first day and plenty of water.

Do I need a permit?

Lower Mustang needs the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit, which we arrange. Upper Mustang, north of Kagbeni, needs a separate restricted-area permit.
