Overview

Meditation was refined over centuries in the hills of the Kathmandu valley, and this retreat places you inside that living lineage rather than beside it.

Days alternate between the valley’s sacred geography — dawn circumambulation at Boudhanath, teachings with English-speaking monks, silent walks in the pine forests of Namobuddha — and the calm of your Kathmandu hotel: Hotel Barahi on the Comfort level, Dwarika’s Hotel on the Luxury level.

No prior experience is expected. You will be given simple, portable practices and the rarest luxury of all: days shaped entirely around stillness.

  • Two nights’ hermitage stay near Namobuddha

Questions, answered

Is this a religious retreat?

It is contemplative rather than doctrinal. The teachings come from Buddhist tradition, offered openly; guests of every belief find the practices universal.

Is there silence throughout?

Silence is held during morning practice and the Namobuddha forest sessions, not imposed across the retreat. Meals and evenings are gently sociable.

How comfortable is the hermitage stay?

Simple, spotless and deeply peaceful — private rooms with hot showers and monastery views. The contrast with your Kathmandu hotel is part of the retreat’s design.
