Overview

Discover Annapurna stays in one region and sees it from every height: the lake at about 800 m, the ridge at Sarangkot, the village of Dhampus, and Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 m by private helicopter.

The helicopter flies on your first full morning, up the Modi Khola gorge into the Annapurna Sanctuary, a ring of peaks that walkers take about five days to reach. Breakfast is served with Annapurna I and Machhapuchhre around you.

The rest of the week is slow: a boat on Phewa Lake, a night on Sarangkot ridge, and a night in Dhampus with the mountains across the valley at dawn, before a late breakfast and the flight back to Kathmandu.

Highlights

  • Morning boat on Phewa Lake
  • Sunrise over the Annapurna range from Sarangkot

Questions, answered

Do we need to be fit?

No. The only walk is about 30 minutes each way to the Dhampus lodge, on a village path with some steps.

Is the altitude a concern?

You spend about an hour at 4,130 m at base camp. Move slowly and drink water; most people feel fine. Tell us about any heart or breathing condition before you book.

Is the helicopter private?

Yes. It is chartered for your group. The price shown is per person for two guests sharing the helicopter.

What is the Dhampus lodge like?

A small lodge of about 14 rooms on the edge of the village, each with its own bathroom and hot water, and a garden facing the mountains. Comfortable and simple rather than a five-star hotel.

Is the price per person?

Yes. The price shown is per person for two guests travelling together and sharing a room. Tell us your group size and dates and we will send an exact quote.

Luggage

Take a small day bag on the helicopter, and a small overnight bag for Sarangkot and Dhampus; your main luggage can stay at the Pokhara hotel.
